Early Life:
~ When Tycho was two years old his uncle Jorgen Brahe took away Tycho from his family
~ Tycho's family took no action in trying to take Tycho back
~ When living with his uncle Tycho lived in Tostrup Castle until he was six years old
~ Then in 1552 Tycho's uncle took control of Vordingborg Castle which he lived in until college
~ In 1559 Tycho began studies at the University of Copenhagen
~ Tycho started out mainly studying law and other subjects
~ Later on Tycho became interested in Astronomy
College Life:
~ In 1562 Tycho transferred to the University of Leipzig
~ Tycho went to the University not studying Astronomy
~ Made first astronomy observation in a small notebook in 1563
~ Second observation was on Jupiter and Saturn which helped Tycho create his theory
~ Tycho began studying astronomy with Bartholomew Schultz
~ Tycho came home from college in 1565
~ Tycho's Uncle gave his life drowning to save the Danish king the following month after Tycho returned home
~ Tycho went back to original family after his uncle drowned
~ In 1566 Tycho went off to Rostock college
~ When at Rostock Tycho got in a argument with another student which resulted in part of Tycho's nose to be cut off
~ In April 1567 he was fitted with a silver and gold artificial nose
Adult Life:
~ Tycho finished college in 1570 when he received word that his father was ill
~ His father died in May 1571
~ With help of his other uncle Steven Bille he began to build a observatory soon after his father's death
~ 1572 he met Kirsten Jorgensdatter a girl from his home town
~ They were not legally allowed to marry from some law but they lived together
~ Also in 1572 Tycho saw an extra star in the constellation Cassiopeia
~ Tycho published this observation in 1574 - The new star is now referred to Tycho's Supernova
Theory:
~ Tycho Favored in Earth Centered Universe; Different from Ptolemaic Theory.
~ Even though Brahe's observation was wrong; He collected very valuable data that helped future astronomers.
~ After death, Brahe's assistant Johannes Kepler continued his work.
~ Even though Kepler didn't agree with Brahe's theory, Kepler realized how valuable Brahe's data was.
